 Mojito is a traditional Cuban cocktail which became quite popular in the United States during the late 1980s, but has recently seen a resurgence in popularity.  Its combination of sweetness and refreshing citrus and mint flavors are intended to mask the potent kick of the rum. 

Recipe

You need:

1 1/2 ounces Light Rum
fresh mint 
dash gomme syrup or lime juice
1/2 lime (squeeze)
4 tablespoons of sugar to mix and spread around the rim of the glass
soda water

Serving suggestions:

Crush mint, sugar and rum together in preferably a tall glass, squeeze the lime into the glass. Fill the glass with crushed ice, top with soda water and stir well.
